The Adventures of Lucy the Crab

When we went to visit Bama Belle and her family a few weeks ago, they gave The Bean her birthday present - a hermit crab! I remember bringing home hermit crabs from our beach vacations and thought it was incredibly thoughtful of them to give The Bean something to help remember them and our WONDERFUL trip to the beach!

Immediately, The Bean named her Lucy Goosie Marmaloosie and she became a permanent fixture in our household. Her name is particularly poignant since we were down there for Father's Day and it was our 1st Fathers Day without my granddaddy Buck. He used to call Sis and I "Lucy" as a term of endearment and affection. When I told Dad, he got a little choked up and said Buck would've really liked that. . .

Since returning back to Helena, Lucy has been my BFF while everyone else is gone during the day. (The Bean goes to daycare while I work from home.) My friend Lucy crawls toward color, is remarkably interesting, and LOVES to climb! Tonight, when we visited PETCO, we got her a new stick to climb on - and wouldn't you know it? She used it to walk on the ceiling of her habitat!

Go Lucy!

Hopefully, she will continue to do interesting things that are blog-worthy but for now, we're just enjoying our new family member!
